Mad Men

We don't have tv. So, we find shows on Netflix/Hulu and see what we think. The past few weeks Brenan and I started watching Mad Men. We LOVE it. A lot. It's addicting like Desperate Housewives, but it's a drama. Between the two of us we managed to watch all of the episodes very quickly. Brenan would stay up super late watching the episodes and later he would fill me in on what I missed and vice-versa when I watched without him.  This show is ridiculously addicting and captivating. From what I've read online, it is very true to the time period. I love all of the clothes and I wonder what it would be like to wear hats all the time. Everyone wore hats and it was so classy. The dresses, the hair-dos, the jewelry, the suits...I love it all.

Banana Republic released a Mad Men collection and needless to say, I had to buy a dress. Brenan bought me this dress:

It isn't from the collection, but it's very similar. The one that was similar didn't look as good on me. My next dress will be from the collection. I want this one:

2 months!

Our little Julia is growing up so quickly! Just this week she started smiling ALL THE TIME and she has started "talking" a lot more as well. She loves to hold her head up and look around and she has even begun following things more with her head. She can hold her head up for awhile, but it still bobbles, which is cute. We still call her our little teradactyl since she makes the weirdest screech-like noises when she is drowsy/sleeping. This past week-ish she has moved up from newborn clothes and diapers into 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. She more easily falls asleep in her swing, which is nice for me, and she is starting to sleep in her bed more often. Hopefully we'll have her transitioned into her crib in her room in the next month.

Here we are at the doctor's office, just before she got her shots.
My little ducky :) She loves bath time!
All smiles!!!

Family vacation

Here is dad and Julia at The Bellagio. We went there for their buffet on Friday as we were leaving Vegas. We stopped in Vegas instead of finishing the trip because Julia wasn't feeling well and our first 5 hr stretch took almost 7 hours because we had to keep stopping.
Here is Julia with Great Grandma Cole. We got to spend 2 days with our grandparents so they could meet Julia.
Here she is in the cute yellow outfit they bought her. It's hard to tell but it has the cutest ruffle sleeves!
This is one of the paintings that grandpa did on their back patio area.
 This one is of Colorado.
Family photo with the  grand parents.

We stopped to see Amber and the boys one day of our trip. We had to trick Brave to smile, but it turned out to be such a cute picture of all of the cousins.
He kept asking if he could hold the baby, so I helped him "hold" the baby. So stinkin' cute. He got a kick out of how small she was compared to him.

It was a great (yet long) trip but we were glad we got to see our family. Plus it was our 3 year anniversary. We went to the Paris buffet for dinner and it was magnificent! The next morning for breakfast we did the Bellagio buffet, and they had the best pancakes ever! We totally stayed at a ghetto hotel on the strip, but on funny note, they had "dealertainers" in the middle of the casino, so we got to see Elvis, Adam Lambert, and  Shakira perform. Vegas makes me laugh.

Our baby girl

Before I hear angry voices, pictures will come. I'm still trying to catch up on life. There are pics on Facebook for now...

So, our baby Julia decided to come a month early! Friday (6/3) I was laying in bed getting situated with my pillows when my water broke! It took me a second to realize what happened and then it hit me-- our baby is coming right now! I went into shock. Brenan checked in with our hospital and they told us not to come up because they couldn't deliver preemie babies, so we drove to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center (way closer than Park City) and Brenan carted me up to Labor & Delivery. Side note: he made me sit in a wheelchair on the way up.

We then started all of the frantic late night phone calls letting our family know that my water had broke. It was 11:30 at night so it took a while to get a hold of people. My mom showed up at the hospital about an hour later and we all sat and waited. Around 5 am contractions got more intense, but I hadn't dilated past a 2 yet. Then came the oxytocin. About 7 am I was crying through contractions, so they gave me my first round of pain killers at about 8 am. After it wore off, I was still in so much pain that I got my epidural -- about 10:30 am-ish.

This is where all of the excitement came in. My catheter (which at insertion I was dilated at a 5). It felt like it took forever for them to put it in, and when the nurse finally reattached all of my stomach monitors she noticed that the baby's heart rate had dropped drastically. She checked me again and within about 10 minutes I went from a 5 to a 10 and the baby was on it's way out. She ran out in the hallway to have the delivery team prep me and poor Drea (Brenan's mom) walked in not knowing that I was getting ready to push. They kicked her out :(   Side note: Brenan's family just happened to be in town picking up Quinn from EFY so they got to be here for the whole event! LUCKY!

When all of this happened Brenan was not at the hospital. He left when I was a 5 to go check on the dogs and pick up some stuff from our house. Luckily we only live 5 minutes away. The nurses found my phone for me and I called him to let him know that I was pushing and he needed to hurry up. He arrived and I had already been pushing. He jumped in to help me and within 20 minutes little Julia was here! I didn't even have to push her out, she contracted out. Just as she was about half way out my mom walked in the room, so she got to see her entering the world as she was arriving.

Julia Marie Cole was  born at 12:14 pm on Saturday June 4th weighing 4 lbs 10 oz and measuring 17.5 inches long. She was exactly one month early.

Since then she has been closely watched by doctors and she now weighs 5 lbs 8.5 oz and is 18 3/4 inches long.

Baby List & Colors

So, everyone has been asking either me or my mom what I do/don't have for the baby (and yes, I'm registered at Target, the second most frequent question I get). Most of the time, off of the top of my head, I don't know what I do/don't have. I decided that I would list everything so that anyone can take a look. Plus, doing this gives me a good reason to start sorting through her stuff and it gives me something to do to break up the monotony of the day. I'm bored a lot.

Also, everyone keeps asking what her colors are. Here is the link to her bed set: Ladybug bed set
We are trying to stick with brighter pinks/greens and not so much the pastel colors.

Something Borrowed

For Mother's Day my mom took me out to go see Something Borrowed. Now, I'm not sure what it is, but something really bothered me about seeing a 32 year old woman (Kate Hudson) portraying a mid-twenties lush/party girl. Yes I realize she's not that old but with her beauty and talent I feel like she could play such better roles. Or better yet, why don't they write her better parts for romantic comedies like this. I felt like she played the character well (annoying blond party girl) but I felt it was below her. Ginnifer Goodwin is absolutely adorable and I have loved her work in everything I've seen her in. However, in this movie the plot seems to drag and you just want to know who ends up with whom. I felt like I hit that point with about 30 minutes left in the movie. Why won't Dex just choose Rachel?! And what about Ethan and Rachel? Totally underdeveloped relationship/story there. **SPOILER ALERT** I secretly wish she would have chosen Ethan instead of Dex. Yes she ends up happy in the end but she could have been happy the whole time.

Ugh, overall, even though I liked it, I give it a 7 out of 10. The "comedy" wasn't that hilarious and why do they feel the need to throw in the f-bomb for no reason? Needless to say, it left me wanting.
