Our baby girl

Before I hear angry voices, pictures will come. I'm still trying to catch up on life. There are pics on Facebook for now...

So, our baby Julia decided to come a month early! Friday (6/3) I was laying in bed getting situated with my pillows when my water broke! It took me a second to realize what happened and then it hit me-- our baby is coming right now! I went into shock. Brenan checked in with our hospital and they told us not to come up because they couldn't deliver preemie babies, so we drove to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center (way closer than Park City) and Brenan carted me up to Labor & Delivery. Side note: he made me sit in a wheelchair on the way up.

We then started all of the frantic late night phone calls letting our family know that my water had broke. It was 11:30 at night so it took a while to get a hold of people. My mom showed up at the hospital about an hour later and we all sat and waited. Around 5 am contractions got more intense, but I hadn't dilated past a 2 yet. Then came the oxytocin. About 7 am I was crying through contractions, so they gave me my first round of pain killers at about 8 am. After it wore off, I was still in so much pain that I got my epidural -- about 10:30 am-ish.

This is where all of the excitement came in. My catheter (which at insertion I was dilated at a 5). It felt like it took forever for them to put it in, and when the nurse finally reattached all of my stomach monitors she noticed that the baby's heart rate had dropped drastically. She checked me again and within about 10 minutes I went from a 5 to a 10 and the baby was on it's way out. She ran out in the hallway to have the delivery team prep me and poor Drea (Brenan's mom) walked in not knowing that I was getting ready to push. They kicked her out :(   Side note: Brenan's family just happened to be in town picking up Quinn from EFY so they got to be here for the whole event! LUCKY!

When all of this happened Brenan was not at the hospital. He left when I was a 5 to go check on the dogs and pick up some stuff from our house. Luckily we only live 5 minutes away. The nurses found my phone for me and I called him to let him know that I was pushing and he needed to hurry up. He arrived and I had already been pushing. He jumped in to help me and within 20 minutes little Julia was here! I didn't even have to push her out, she contracted out. Just as she was about half way out my mom walked in the room, so she got to see her entering the world as she was arriving.

Julia Marie Cole was  born at 12:14 pm on Saturday June 4th weighing 4 lbs 10 oz and measuring 17.5 inches long. She was exactly one month early.

Since then she has been closely watched by doctors and she now weighs 5 lbs 8.5 oz and is 18 3/4 inches long.

Baby List & Colors

So, everyone has been asking either me or my mom what I do/don't have for the baby (and yes, I'm registered at Target, the second most frequent question I get). Most of the time, off of the top of my head, I don't know what I do/don't have. I decided that I would list everything so that anyone can take a look. Plus, doing this gives me a good reason to start sorting through her stuff and it gives me something to do to break up the monotony of the day. I'm bored a lot.

Also, everyone keeps asking what her colors are. Here is the link to her bed set: Ladybug bed set
We are trying to stick with brighter pinks/greens and not so much the pastel colors.

Something Borrowed

For Mother's Day my mom took me out to go see Something Borrowed. Now, I'm not sure what it is, but something really bothered me about seeing a 32 year old woman (Kate Hudson) portraying a mid-twenties lush/party girl. Yes I realize she's not that old but with her beauty and talent I feel like she could play such better roles. Or better yet, why don't they write her better parts for romantic comedies like this. I felt like she played the character well (annoying blond party girl) but I felt it was below her. Ginnifer Goodwin is absolutely adorable and I have loved her work in everything I've seen her in. However, in this movie the plot seems to drag and you just want to know who ends up with whom. I felt like I hit that point with about 30 minutes left in the movie. Why won't Dex just choose Rachel?! And what about Ethan and Rachel? Totally underdeveloped relationship/story there. **SPOILER ALERT** I secretly wish she would have chosen Ethan instead of Dex. Yes she ends up happy in the end but she could have been happy the whole time.

Ugh, overall, even though I liked it, I give it a 7 out of 10. The "comedy" wasn't that hilarious and why do they feel the need to throw in the f-bomb for no reason? Needless to say, it left me wanting.

Coming soon...

Soon you will (hopefully) get to see pictures of our new place.

So far, we've:
Found homes for all of the puppies (I cried when the last one left, he was so cute!)
Unpacked a lot.
Cleaned a lot.
Gone crazy with the dogs adjusting to city life.
LOVED being so close to everything!

Pregnancy Brain

I have been experiencing, a lot, what is referred to as "pregnancy brain." This means your brain becomes a scrambled egg. Today, I got honked at twice at green lights for not going. I just didn't notice the light was green. I was too busy looking at other cars.

I also lost a $15 check and $20 cash. One minute I had it, the next I didn't. I wish I had it back.

Then I say things that don't make sense. Like, all the time.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results each time. I must be insane. Brenan would agree with this for sure. He's pointed it out a few times.

I stop mid-sentence because I can't remember what I'm saying as I say it.

Someday, I'll be normal again.

Finals

Here is my to-do list for the next week and a half:
  1. Clean, organize, and pack our stuff. This could be a full-time job.
  2. Move our stuff. Being 6 months pregnant I am virtually useless at this.
  3. Research and write a 10 pg paper. As a history student I am dismayed that I still have yet to track down any primary sources. This is not good.
  4. Make a presentation of said paper.
  5. Research and write a source analysis for Roman History. Not as easy as it sounds, though only 3 pages required.
  6. Sell and deliver the other 5 puppies. One has already found a new home!
  7. Unpack.
  8. Study for 2 finals, each of which are 100% essay and will take over 2 hours each. Did I mention that one is scheduled from 8-10 PM on SATURDAY NIGHT! Suck. Suck suck suck.
  9. Work. Like there's even time for that. Really, there isn't.
